SVG and DXF
Output ▸ Export SVG… and Export DXF… make files for laser cutters, cutting machines and drawing programs. One unit is one millimetre.
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Stitching hole shape | Export as is (the blade shape, as a solid outline so it cuts whole), or Export as dots with a radius. For holes as single lines, set the iron's blade width to 0. |
| Include text shapes | |
| Include template library shapes | |
| Draw every line solid (no dashes) | Dashed and dotted line types are written as plain solid lines. (SVG) |
| Export only the selected shapes | |
| Leave out shapes whose line type is hidden | |
| Flip the Y axis in DXF files | Most CAD programs expect Y up. (DXF) |
| R12 / R14 | R12: curves as fine polylines, for older software. R14: true arcs, ellipses and curves. (DXF) |
Connected lines of one line type are joined into one path, and each line type goes on its own layer (DXF) or colour, so machines can treat cut, score and engrave lines differently. Tracing images and dimensions' construction aren't exported. Shapes left out are reported.
STL for 3D printing
Output ▸ Export STL… makes 3D-printable models from the selected closed shapes. Open shapes are left out and reported. A 3D preview shows the result: drag to rotate, right-drag to pan, wheel to zoom; choose a preview material (leather, acrylic, metallic, matte). The model is built in the background, so the dialog stays responsive; after a change the preview updates when the new model is ready, and Export waits for it.
3D pattern
A flat piece to trace round, or to use as a template.
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Thickness | |
| Stitch holes | Convert to round (with a Hole diameter), or Keep original shape. Holes drawn as single lines can't be kept as they are and are reported. |
| Text | None; Engrave on top face or bottom face (with a Depth); or Multi-colour print: the text is engraved and also saved as a second model that fills it, for two-colour printing (two files are saved). |
| Edge processing (beta) | Top edge and Bottom edge: none, Chamfer or Fillet, with a Size; Fillet steps for smoothness. Available with Text: None. Pieces where the edge can't be shaped keep straight edges and are reported. |
Positioning jig
A tray that holds a piece in place (for example for stamping or setting hardware).
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Outer shape | Rectangle round the pattern (with a Margin), Rectangle, W × H (Width, Height), or Pattern offset (the outline grown by a Margin; avoid a margin equal to the depth of a concave part). |
| Corner R | Rounds the outer corners. |
| Total height | |
| Gap (clearance) | Space round the piece. |
| Pocket depth | Equal to the total height for a pocket that goes right through. |
| Keep nested contours as holes | Shapes inside the outline stay as raised islands. |
| Finger hole at the pocket's centroid | A hole through the floor to push the piece out (with a pocket that doesn't go through), with its diameter. |
