The pattern check looks for small drawing mistakes that are hard to see but spoil cutting and stitching. It runs in the background after each change.
| Problem | What it means | Repair |
|---|---|---|
| Gap | Two line ends 0.05–0.20 mm apart: they look joined but aren't. | Joins them (two lines at an angle meet at their crossing; otherwise the less connected end moves). |
| Off-axis | A line almost, but not quite, horizontal or vertical (0.001–0.5°). | Turns it exactly level or plumb, carrying joined ends with it. |
| Overlap | Two ends cross each other instead of meeting. | Moves both ends to the crossing. |
| T-gap | A line end stops just short of, or runs just past, another line (0.05–0.20 mm). | Extends or trims it to meet the line, keeping its angle. |
Only shapes of the same line type on the same layer are compared. Lines deliberately turned together (a rotated part) aren't flagged.
On the canvas: each problem has a marker; hover it for a description ("Gap of 0.1000 mm between endpoints"). A banner at the top says how many problems there are, with Resolve all and a button to hide the warnings.
Fixing:
- Right-click a marker ▸ Repair: … fixes that one.
- Edit ▸ Resolve issues fixes the problems of the selected shapes.
- Edit ▸ Resolve all fixes everything, in passes, moving as little as possible. It reports what it did ("Fixed 3 issues in 2 passes.", "Some issues remain…" or "Nothing to fix."). Each is one undo step.
- Fixes never move a locked shape or a shape on a locked layer. When the usual fix would, another way is used if there is one (the other end of a gap moves onto the locked one; an off-axis line turns about its other end); otherwise the problem stays, its marker offers no Repair, and Resolve says "the rest would move locked shapes". Unlock the shapes to fix it.
File ▸ Options… ▸ Show pattern check warnings turns the markers and banner off.
